Australia Post will reach out to help Amazon
Australia Post, which already delivers most of Amazon deliveries from the US, will be reaching out to help Amazon. Other interesting points:
- Amazon has appointed CBRE to advise on a roll-out of larger distribution centres, which Amazon terms “fulfilment centres” and also, it is expected, smaller sites closer to the capital cities to ensure it can keep its promise of speedy deliveries.
- In a note to clients, Macquarie Equities said Amazon could build a $14 billion business in Australia but it will take time.
- “Safe drop is now our most popular delivery choice. Customer safe drop requests and usage has grown about 300 per cent since October 2016 when we launched safe drop for all customers where an email address or mobile phone number is provided by the sender.”
We also expect that Amazon will set up their on even faster delivery services for Amazon Fresh, and may even consider Amazon Drones here. Amazon uses FedEx, US Postal Services in the US, though they have also leased planes to help optimise delivery. We expect the logistics aspect to start with the AusPost, but would be keen to see how they would ramp up to the 2 Day Amazon Prime offer that makes Amazon so compelling.
